Revival Totems¶
Revival Totems are craftable items that let you bring back a banned player -- removing their 36-hour death ban and letting them rejoin the server immediately. They're the community safety net: when Trapped Souls fail, Revival Totems pick up the slack.
What Are They?¶
A Revival Totem is an item you can craft and carry in your inventory. When a teammate (or anyone else) dies without Trapped Souls and gets banned, you can use a Revival Totem to remove their ban on the spot.
Every new player starts with 2 Revival Totems as part of their starter kit, but you'll want to craft more as your team grows.
How to Use a Revival Totem¶
There are two ways to revive a banned player:
Method 1: Right-Click GUI¶
This is the easiest way, especially if you're not sure of the exact player name.
Step 1 -- Hold a Revival Totem in your main hand.
Step 2 -- Right-click (on air or on a block -- either works).
Step 3 -- A GUI window opens, showing the heads of all currently banned players.
Step 4 -- Click on the head of the player you want to revive.
Step 5 -- The Revival Totem is consumed (one totem per revival).
Step 6 -- The server sends a broadcast to all online players announcing the revival:
YourName has used a Revival Totem to bring back TheirName!
You can see who's banned
The Revival Totem GUI is also a quick way to check if anyone on the server is currently banned. Just hold the totem and right-click -- if the GUI is empty, nobody's banned.
Method 2: The /revive Command¶
If you already know the player's name, you can skip the GUI entirely.
/revive <player>
Requirements:
- You must have a Revival Totem in your inventory (any slot)
- The player must currently be banned due to death
The totem is consumed, the player is unbanned, and the same server-wide broadcast goes out.
The command still requires a totem
The /revive command isn't free -- it checks your inventory for a Revival Totem and consumes one. You can't revive without a totem.
Crafting Recipe¶
Revival Totems are crafted in a 3x3 crafting table using a cross pattern:
Gold Block | Totem of Undying | Gold Block
Totem of Undying | Diamond Block | Totem of Undying
Gold Block | Totem of Undying | Gold Block
Materials Breakdown¶
Per Revival Totem:
- 4 Gold Blocks (36 Gold Ingots)
- 4 Totems of Undying (dropped by Evokers in Woodland Mansions and Raids)
- 1 Diamond Block (9 Diamonds)
Total raw materials: 36 Gold Ingots + 4 Totems of Undying + 9 Diamonds
Where to get Totems of Undying
Totems of Undying drop from Evokers, which spawn in two places:
- Woodland Mansions -- rare structures in Dark Forest biomes
- Raids -- triggered by entering a village with the Bad Omen effect
Raids are generally the more reliable farming method, since you can trigger them repeatedly. With infinite villager trades on this server, building a raid farm near a village is very effective.
The cost is worth it
Yes, the recipe is expensive. But consider what it does: it saves someone from sitting out for 36 hours. If your teammate dies at 11 PM on a Friday, a Revival Totem is the difference between playing together all weekend and playing alone until Sunday morning.
Server Broadcast¶
Every revival is announced to the entire server. When you revive someone, all online players see:
YourName has used a Revival Totem to bring back TheirName!
This serves as both a celebration and a reminder to everyone to keep their Trapped Souls stocked up.
Your Starter Supply¶
New players receive 2 Revival Totems alongside 5 Trapped Souls when they first join. These are meant to be shared -- give one to a teammate, keep one for yourself, and start gathering materials to craft more.
Tips¶
- Spread them across your team -- If only one person carries Revival Totems and they get banned, nobody can revive anyone. Make sure multiple team members have at least one.
- Keep one in your Ender Chest -- You can't use it from there, but it won't be lost if you die. Pull it out when you need it.
- Prioritize Totem of Undying farming -- Gold and diamonds are farmable through many methods, but Totems of Undying only come from Evokers. Set up a raid farm early.
- Don't wait to craft them -- It's tempting to save your materials, but a Revival Totem sitting in a chest is worth nothing. Craft them and carry them.
