Vanilla Tweaks¶
The server uses 21 datapacks from the Vanilla Tweaks project. These modify crafting recipes, smelting behavior, and drop rates to reduce tedious grinding while staying true to the vanilla feel.
How to Use
These tweaks are active automatically. Just open a crafting table or furnace and the new recipes will be available. There is nothing to install or enable on your end.
Crafting Recipes¶
These datapacks add entirely new crafting recipes for items that are normally uncraftable or hard to obtain.
Craftable Bundles¶
Adds a crafting recipe for Bundles, the inventory-management item that Mojang has been slowly rolling out.
How to Craft
Place string and rabbit hide in the crafting grid following the bundle pattern. Check the recipe book in your crafting table for the exact layout.
Craftable Horse Armor¶
Craft iron, gold, and diamond horse armor using the standard armor pattern with the corresponding material.
How to Craft
Use the helmet-like pattern in a crafting table — wool on top, ingots/diamonds on the sides and bottom. Check the recipe book for each variant.
Craftable Name Tags¶
Craft name tags from paper and iron — no more relying on dungeon loot or fishing.
How to Craft
Combine paper and an iron ingot in the crafting grid. Check the recipe book for the exact layout.
Craftable Gravel¶
Turn flint back into gravel. Useful when you've mined too much gravel and ended up with stacks of flint you don't need.
How to Craft
Place 4 flint in a 2x2 square in the crafting grid to get gravel.
Craftable Sculk Sensors¶
Adds a crafting recipe for sculk sensors, making wireless redstone accessible without hunting through deep dark cities.
How to Craft
Check the recipe book in your crafting table for the sculk sensor recipe.
Dropper to Dispenser¶
Convert a dropper into a dispenser without needing a bow. Simplifies dispenser crafting significantly.
How to Craft
Combine a dropper with the missing components (check the recipe book) to convert it into a dispenser.
Blackstone Cobblestone¶
Use blackstone as a substitute in any recipe that calls for cobblestone. Stone tools, furnaces, brewing stands, pistons — everything.
Tip
This is especially handy early-game in the Nether. You can craft a full set of stone tools using only blackstone.
Sandstone Dyeing¶
Dye sandstone variants between regular sandstone and red sandstone. No more hunting for the specific desert biome you need.
Terracotta Rotation Wrench¶
Craft a special wrench item that lets you rotate glazed terracotta blocks after placement. No more breaking and re-placing to get the pattern right.
Charcoal to Black Dye¶
Use charcoal directly as black dye. Saves you from needing ink sacs or wither roses for basic black dye needs.
Smelting¶
These datapacks add new smelting recipes to furnaces, blast furnaces, and smokers.
Back to Blocks¶
Smelt mineral items back into their ore blocks. For example, smelt iron nuggets back into iron ingots more efficiently, or reverse-process other mineral drops.
How It Works
Place the mineral item (nuggets, etc.) into any furnace. The output will be the corresponding ingot or block at an efficient rate.
Powder to Glass¶
Smelt concrete powder directly into glass. Skip the sand-smelting step entirely — just throw your leftover concrete powder in a furnace.
How It Works
Place any color of concrete powder into a furnace. You'll get a matching stained glass block. White concrete powder gives white stained glass, and so on.
Rotten Flesh to Leather¶
Smelt rotten flesh into leather in any furnace. Finally, a use for all those zombie drops.
How It Works
Place rotten flesh into a furnace with fuel. Each piece of rotten flesh produces 1 leather.
Resource Efficiency¶
These datapacks increase output quantities or guarantee drops, so your resources go further.
Double Shulker Shells¶
Shulkers always drop 2 shells instead of the usual 0-1. This guarantees you get a shulker box from every shulker you defeat.
Tip
This makes End raiding far more efficient. Every shulker is a guaranteed shulker box, so you don't need to hunt as many.
More Bricks Crafting¶
Get more bricks per craft. The standard brick recipe output is increased so you don't burn through clay as fast.
More Stairs Crafting¶
Get 8 stairs per craft instead of the usual 4. Stairs are one of the most-used building blocks, and the vanilla recipe has always felt stingy.
Note
This applies to all stair types — wood, stone, brick, and everything else.
Quality of Life¶
These datapacks remove tedious restrictions and let you reverse-craft or re-dye items freely.
Straight to Shapeless¶
Many recipes that normally require a specific shape in the crafting grid become shapeless. Just toss the ingredients in any arrangement.
Universal Dyeing¶
Dye any colored block or item to any other color directly. No need to start from the base (white/undyed) version.
How It Works
Place any colored wool, terracotta, concrete, glass, or similar block in the crafting grid with the dye color you want. It converts directly — no intermediate step needed.
Unpackable Ice¶
Reverse the ice packing chain:
- Craft blue ice back into packed ice
- Craft packed ice back into regular ice
How It Works
Place a blue ice block alone in the crafting grid to get packed ice back. Place packed ice in the grid to get regular ice.
Unpackable Nether Wart¶
Craft nether wart blocks back into nether wart items. No more accidentally losing your nether wart supply to compacting.
How It Works
Place a nether wart block in the crafting grid to get nether wart items back.
Unpackable Wool¶
Craft wool back into string. Useful when you have excess wool from sheep farms and need string for scaffolding, crossbows, or other recipes.
How It Works
Place a wool block in the crafting grid to get 4 string.
