First Steps¶
You've connected to the server -- now what? This walkthrough covers everything you should do in your first play session to set yourself up for long-term survival.
Step 1: Collect Your Starter Kit¶
The moment you join for the first time, the server automatically gives you a starter kit containing:
- 2 Revival Totems -- used to bring back banned (dead) players
- 5 Trapped Souls -- automatically save you from a death ban
Don't throw these away
These items are incredibly valuable. Trapped Souls are rare drops (2% from loot chests), and Revival Totems require expensive crafting materials. Treat your starter kit like end-game gear -- because it is.
You'll see them appear in your inventory. Take a moment to look at them before you rush off into the wilderness.
Step 2: Understand How Death Works¶
This is a hardcore server, but death isn't permanent -- as long as you're prepared.
Here's the quick version:
If you die with a Trapped Soul in your inventory or Ender Chest:
- One Trapped Soul is consumed automatically
- You respawn in Survival mode
- Your remaining Trapped Souls are restored to your inventory
- You get a message confirming the soul was used
If you die with NO Trapped Souls anywhere:
- You are banned from the server for 36 hours
- You're kicked with a message explaining what happened
- After 36 hours, you're automatically unbanned
But there's a lifeline:
Another player can use a Revival Totem to unban you immediately -- no waiting required. This is why it's smart to share Revival Totems with people you trust.
Your regular inventory drops normally
Trapped Souls are soulbound and never drop on death. Everything else in your inventory drops as usual. Use /back to return to your death location and pick up your stuff.

Step 3: Set Up Your Homes¶
Once you find a good spot, save it so you can always get back:
/sethome-- Saves your current location as your home/home-- Teleports you back to your saved home
Set a home before you explore
Before heading into dangerous territory, set a home at your base. If you die and respawn, you'll want a way to get back to safety quickly.
Step 4: Connect to Discord¶
The server has a Discord bridge that lets you chat between the game and Discord. To link your accounts:
/discord link
Follow the instructions in chat to complete the link. Once connected, you'll be able to see in-game messages from Discord and vice versa.
Step 5: Join or Create a Team¶
Teams give you PvP protection among members, team chat, and a group to coordinate with. You have two options:
Join an existing team:
/team join <team-name>
Create your own team:
/team create <team-name>
Teams protect you from friendly fire
Members of the same team can't accidentally (or intentionally) kill each other in PvP. On a hardcore server, that's a big deal.
Step 6: Start Exploring¶
Now that you're set up, it's time to head out. Here's what you'll find:
- Terralith generates over 95 unique biomes in the Overworld -- you'll see landscapes you've never encountered in vanilla Minecraft
- Structures are everywhere -- Dungeons & Taverns adds 40+ unique structures, from underground dungeons to surface-level taverns
- Yggdrasil locations hold Norse mythology-inspired content, including legendary weapons
- Ships dot the oceans as full dungeon encounters
The Nether is not what you remember
Incendium completely overhauls the Nether with new biomes, mobs, and dangers. Don't walk in unprepared -- bring extra Trapped Souls and good gear.
Bonus: Revival Totem Crafting Recipe¶
You started with 2 Revival Totems, but you'll want more. Here's how to craft them:
The recipe uses a cross pattern in a crafting table:
Gold Block | Totem of Undying | Gold Block
Totem of Undying | Diamond Block | Totem of Undying
Gold Block | Totem of Undying | Gold Block
Total raw materials needed:
- 36 Gold Ingots (4 Gold Blocks)
- 4 Totems of Undying (from Evokers in Woodland Mansions or Raids)
- 9 Diamonds (1 Diamond Block)
It's expensive, but being able to bring a friend back from a 36-hour ban is priceless.
