Trapped Souls

Trapped Souls are rare, soulbound items that automatically save you from a hardcore death ban. They are consumed on death without any player action required.

Properties

Property Value
Max per player 5 (across inventory + Ender Chest)
Soulbound Does not drop on death
Auto-consume Triggers automatically when you die
Works from Inventory or Ender Chest
Appearance Red Dye with enchant glint

How They Work

  1. You die while carrying at least one Trapped Soul
  2. One soul is consumed automatically
  3. You see a message: "A Trapped Soul was consumed to save you from banishment!"
  4. You respawn in Survival mode
  5. Your remaining Trapped Souls are restored to your inventory
  6. If that was your last soul, you get a warning: "That was your last Trapped Soul. Be careful!"

Ender Chest Storage

Trapped Souls work from your Ender Chest too. Store spares there for maximum safety — they can't be lost even if your inventory is full.

How to Obtain

Loot Drops

Trapped Souls have a chance to appear in any naturally generated loot:

Source Drop Chance
Any loot chest/container 2% (1 in 50)
Trial Chamber vaults 4% (1 in 25)

Vault Interaction

When you open a vault block with the correct key, there's an additional 4% chance a Trapped Soul will drop on top of the vault as a bonus.

Starter Kit

New players receive 5 Trapped Souls on their first join.

Admin Command

Operators can give Trapped Souls with:

/givetrapped <player> [amount]

Inventory Limit

You cannot carry more than 5 Trapped Souls total (combined across inventory and Ender Chest).

  • If you try to pick up more, the pickup is blocked
  • If you somehow end up with more than 5 (e.g., inventory manipulation), excess souls are dropped at your feet
  • The limit is enforced on pickup and on inventory click events
